Beginnings

For whomever is reading this:

I guess the idea to make a blog really came from my CAS (essentially Community Service in the IB schooling system) coordinator because of my lack of activities completed under the 'Initiative' outcome.  I didn't want to have to worry about CAS in the second semester of my final year of school and I knew I wanted to make some sort of blog. Though, I wasn't sure what I wanted to write about... what I was passionate about, then it came to me as I was preparing a message for youth group that I would be giving that Saturday. The only times I preached was during the guys Bible study and I wanted to make what I share more public so people could see for themselves if they so wished. Hence why I created this blog.

Now, the name... the idea for the blog title 'Passing the Baton for His Name's sake' came from a sermon given to the youth that I heard at the Hillsong Conference last year. The preacher was talking about Joshua and how he served the goal of passing the Law of God from one generation to the next... and that he failed. The speaker linked this to a baton relay race and the concept of passing the baton, the Truth, from one generation to the next. Hence, where I got the name for this blog since, as of this far, my speaking has been in the youth group where I am mostly preaching to those who will come after me once I move on from Laos.
